Murder Lens': Good idea, bad scenario

Share:

Background, idea is the point

Murderers with intriguing beginnings by evidence or testimony from witnesses are suspicious. At this point, the detective is performing well when K associates the slightest details to prove the suspect is not the real culprit.

Later, the horror factor, the more dramatic the dominant. Because, the audience easily recognize who is the perpetrator when the character played by Khuong Ngoc. However, his purpose and motive is still unknown to the audience to discover.

The atmosphere of the movie is very good to the audience right at the beginning.

Choose dark tones, the whole work is terrifying atmosphere, covering the dark. Young director Nguyen Huu Hoang is very skillful in using light creep to create cinematic frames, while creating a sense of mystery.

The nearness of the context as well as the timeline is also highlighted. The streets are empty, the old dark houses are scary to breathe.

The dramatic factor is pushed up by many slow but extremely stressful stages. In addition, the film also contains jump-scare threatening scenes quite impressive compared to the general level of horror genre in Vietnam.
Scenario is still weak

Although the idea is quite attractive, but the lens still stuck with the inherent weakness of Vietnamese movies: script. The work contains many superfluous and absurdities. The evidence of the case in the film almost "fall from the sky," help K easily kill the murder case.

The manner of the offender's offense is too outrageous compared to the story in the film. It is difficult to understand that he can lie outside the law for many years, is it due to the lack of logic action of the minor character line? Conflict at the end of the film is only resolved superficially, making the climax simple, lacking drama.

In a scenario with many loopholes, Khuong Ngoc proved superior to his co-stars.

Regarding acting, Diem My 9X and Hua Van have not really shown their role well. The Star of Saigon (2017) seems to fit the image of successful women, to the right.

The actress sometimes appears to be in a bad mood to transform herself into a kindergarten teacher with a lot of pain, especially in the segments that require psychological weight. In addition, the love story between Cam Pho and K has not been developed to the place.

Meanwhile, the character of the male lead is very superficial. The lack of sleep causes the detective to become lonely and listless, but ultimately does not play a significant role in the story line, and is almost forgotten when the work goes to an end.

Story K tells the father who is also the inspector with the child abduction case that is integrated throughout and does not leave much sense. Maybe so that even though trying hard, Hua Vi Van could not make a breakthrough career with the role of detective K.

The most highlight in the cast belonged to Khuong Ngoc. He has a very convincing performance when he transforms into a kidnapped, multi-personality kidnapper. Cold eyes, lifeless, wild man's smile makes viewers afraid.

This is in fact a deeply villainous role with a tragic past. The pain, torment in the character of the actor is shown relatively excellent.

In general, despite many mistakes, the killer lens is still "strange mouth" in the context of Vietnamese cinema filled with comedy, adaptation, or remake. Movies are playing in theaters nationwide.
